My Journey from Tunisia to the Global Stage of Cybersecurity
As I sat down in the studio of Tunisian national television, under the warm lights and with the familiar sounds of a bustling production team in the background, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of pride, nostalgia, and humility. Here I was, back in my home country, reflecting on a journey that started in Tunisia and took me to places I could never have imagined.

Being invited to share my story on Tunisian national TV was more than just an opportunity to speak about my career in cybersecurity—it was a moment to connect with the people of my country, to share the lessons I’ve learned, and, hopefully, to inspire others to dream big, work hard, and never give up.
Growing Up in Tunisia: The Foundation of My Journey
My journey began in Tunisia, a country known for its resilience, rich history, and vibrant culture. Growing up here taught me values that have stayed with me throughout my life: community, perseverance, and a deep appreciation for learning. I went to primary and secondary school in Tunisia, where I was surrounded by teachers who believed in my potential and peers who shared the same dreams of making a difference.
Tunisia is a land of talent and potential. Despite its size, the country has always had a spirit of innovation, a desire to break barriers, and a history of producing brilliant minds. As I grew older, I realized how much this environment had shaped me, giving me the confidence to explore and push boundaries.
When I left Tunisia to pursue my studies abroad, I carried those values with me. It wasn’t easy to leave the familiar behind, but I knew that to grow, I had to step into the unknown. That leap of faith led me to the world of cybersecurity, a field that was still evolving and, at the time, felt like uncharted territory for many.
Discovering Cybersecurity: A Field That Chose Me
Cybersecurity wasn’t something I planned to specialize in—it felt more like it chose me. As technology advanced and our reliance on digital systems grew, I became increasingly fascinated by the vulnerabilities that came with it. The idea that someone, somewhere, could exploit those vulnerabilities to harm individuals or organizations was unsettling to me. I wanted to be part of the solution, to build defenses that protected people and their data.
At first, the field was daunting. Cybersecurity, even today, remains a male-dominated industry. I was often the only woman in the room, whether it was in meetings, conferences, or discussions about critical security infrastructure. But I reminded myself of where I came from. Tunisia has a long history of strong women breaking barriers, and I wanted to continue that legacy.
Building My Career in Singapore
Moving to Singapore was another pivotal moment in my journey. Singapore is a hub of innovation, a place where technology meets opportunity. It’s a fast-paced environment that pushes you to adapt, learn, and excel. When I arrived, I felt both excitement and uncertainty. Starting a new chapter in a foreign land is never easy, but I was determined to make the most of it.
In Singapore, I was fortunate to work with some of the brightest minds in the field. Over time, I not only gained experience but also started to carve out my own path. I became the first Tunisian woman to join the advisory board of Black Hat Asia, one of the most prestigious cybersecurity conferences in the world. It was a moment of immense pride, not just for me but for what it represented—a Tunisian voice, a woman’s voice, at the forefront of global cybersecurity discussions.
I also founded my own company, which focuses on helping organizations build cyber resilience. Starting a business in a foreign country was challenging, but it was also incredibly rewarding. It gave me the chance to create something meaningful, to bring my vision to life, and to contribute to a field that is critical in today’s digital age.
Tunisia and Cybersecurity: A Vision for the Future
Whenever I think of Tunisia, I think of the immense potential we have as a nation. Our youth are brilliant, resourceful, and eager to make their mark. Cybersecurity is one of those fields where I see endless opportunities for Tunisians to shine.
The world is becoming more connected, and with that connectivity comes risk. Cybercrime is on the rise, and the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals has never been greater. Tunisia, with its growing tech scene and talented workforce, has the potential to become a leader in this space. But to do that, we need to invest in education, infrastructure, and awareness.
During my TV appearance, I emphasized the importance of mentorship and education. I believe that we need to start introducing cybersecurity concepts at a young age, encouraging students to explore the field and showing them that it’s not just about technology—it’s about problem-solving, creativity, and protecting people.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
My journey hasn’t been without challenges. There were moments of doubt, times when I felt like I didn’t belong, and instances where I faced obstacles simply because I was a woman in a male-dominated field. But each challenge taught me something valuable.
I learned the importance of resilience—of pushing forward even when the odds seem stacked against you. I learned that representation matters, that by simply being in the room, you can inspire others to believe in their potential. And I learned that success isn’t just about personal achievement; it’s about lifting others up along the way.
A Message to the Youth of Tunisia
If there’s one thing I hope my story conveys, it’s this: you don’t have to come from a big city or a privileged background to achieve big dreams. Tunisia may be small, but our potential is vast. Whether you’re interested in technology, art, business, or any other field, the key is to believe in yourself, work hard, and never stop learning.
The world needs more Tunisian voices, more innovators, more leaders. Cybersecurity, in particular, is a field where you can make a real impact. It’s not just about protecting systems—it’s about protecting people, communities, and the future.
Looking Ahead
As I reflect on my journey, I feel immense gratitude for the opportunities I’ve had and the people who have supported me along the way. My hope is to continue building bridges between Tunisia and the global cybersecurity community, creating opportunities for others to follow their dreams.
To everyone watching that interview or reading this story, know that you have the power to achieve greatness. Tunisia has given us the foundation—we just need to take the first step.
Here’s to a future where Tunisian talent shines brighter than ever, where we lead in fields like cybersecurity, and where our stories inspire the next generation to dream bigger than we ever thought possible.
